My educational journey began at Michigan State University, where I pursued my undergraduate degree. I then continued my studies at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, followed by a General Practice Residency with the United States Air Force. During my service in the Air Force, I was stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois and Castle AFB in California.
Community Involvement and Personal Interests
Throughout my career, I've remained committed to continuous education, staying current with the latest advancements in dentistry. I've even had the honor of serving as the past president of the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and as a delegate to the Michigan Dental Association.
I am originally from Midland, MI, and now live in Kalamazoo with my wife, Theresa, whom I have been happily married to for over 30 years. Our home is always full of dogs; we have had dogs with ages ranging from newborn puppies to nearly 17 years old. When I'm not at the office, I enjoy activities like weightlifting, playing golf, and participating in dog shows with our beloved dogs. A few weekends a year, my wife and I serve as judges for conformation dog shows. Plus, I'm a devoted University of Michigan football and Detroit Tigers fan.

Team Leader
With a wealth of experience in the dental field, Barb has worked in both the front office and as a Dental Assistant. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Ted, kayaking, and hiking beach trails in her free time. Barb is a self-taught guitarist and a passionate painter, working mainly in acrylics. She looks forward to taking care of you and your family at Spurr Family Dentistry.

Elizabeth
Registered Dental Hygienist
Elizabeth graduated in 2014 from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene and is licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. Her dedication to patient care shines through her focus on educating patients about their specific needs. Beyond the office, she loves spending time with her family and enjoys activities like beach outings, bonfires, golfing, and memorable vacations.
Taylor
Dental Assistant
Originally from Niles, MI, Taylor moved to the Kalamazoo area and married her husband, Doentae, on Juneteenth 2021. She recently finished school at Ross and is a mother of four wonderful kids. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, rocking, hunting, and camping, and she looks forward to helping improve your oral health.
Leah
Dental Assistant
Leah has been employed as a Dental Assistant since 2014. She currently resides in Kalamazoo with her two daughters, who are attending college. Leah cherishes spending time with her family and dogs. During her free time, she enjoys going for nature walks, exercising, cooking, and watching movies.
Julie
Registered Dental Hygienist
Julie was born and raised in Portage, MI. She currently lives in Vicksburg with her husband, their two daughters, and one black lab. Julie graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Dental Hygiene Program in 2007. She enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and traveling in her spare time.
