My educational journey began at Michigan State University, where I pursued my undergraduate degree. I then continued my studies at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, followed by a General Practice Residency with the United States Air Force. During my service in the Air Force, I was stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois and Castle AFB in California.
Community Involvement and Personal Interests
Throughout my career, I've remained committed to continuous education, staying current with the latest advancements in dentistry. I've even had the honor of serving as the past president of the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and as a delegate to the Michigan Dental Association.
I am originally from Midland, MI, and now live in Kalamazoo with my wife, Theresa, whom I have been happily married to for over 30 years. Our home is always full of dogs; we have had dogs with ages ranging from newborn puppies to nearly 17 years old. When I'm not at the office, I enjoy activities like weightlifting, playing golf, and participating in dog shows with our beloved dogs. A few weekends a year, my wife and I serve as judges for conformation dog shows. Plus, I'm a devoted University of Michigan football and Detroit Tigers fan.

Team Leader
With a wealth of experience in the dental field, Barb has worked in both the front office and as a Dental Assistant. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Ted, kayaking, and hiking beach trails in her free time. Barb is a self-taught guitarist and a passionate painter, working mainly in acrylics. She looks forward to taking care of you and your family at Spurr Family Dentistry.
Elizabeth
Registered Dental Hygienist
Elizabeth graduated in 2014 from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene and is licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. Her dedication to patient care shines through her focus on educating patients about their specific needs. Beyond the office, she loves spending time with her family and enjoys activities like beach outings, bonfires, golfing, and memorable vacations.
Sherri
Front Office Support
Sherri has been in the dental field as a front office support person for over 10+ years. Her and her husband (Wade) have been together for20 + yeas and have 3 adult children. They moved here from Mid-Michigan in 2016 and since then, have enjoyed exploring all that West Michigan has to offer. Although she is not a clinician, Sherri strives daily to bring a brighter smile to every patient.
Leah
Dental Assistant
Leah has been employed as a Dental Assistant since 2014. She currently resides in Kalamazoo with her two daughters, who are attending college. Leah cherishes spending time with her family and dogs. During her free time, she enjoys going for nature walks, exercising, cooking, and watching movies.
Jessica
Billing
Jessica graduated from Ross in 2022 specializing in medical billing and coding. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mother to her son. Jessica also has a passion for fitness. When she is not welcoming you at the office with her warm smile you may find her weight training or outside running. She also enjoys nature walks with friends and cooking new recipes.
Julie
Registered Dental Hygienist
Julie currently lives in Portage, MI with her husband and 2 daughters. Julie graduated dental hygiene school from KVCC in 2007. In her spare time Julie enjoys going to Chicago with her family, boating, doing arts and crafts with her girls and volunteering at their schools.
Katelyn
Registered Dental Hygienist
Kalamazoo native, Katelyn or Katey as most call her, has a passion for dental hygiene. After years of studying engineering, Katey woke up one morning, realized she had a change of heart, and decided to pursue dental hygiene instead. Dentistry runs in her blood. Her grandfather and aunt ran a family dentistry in Midland Michigan for over 50 years. Their hard work and dedication to the field of dentistry strongly influenced Katey's decision to become a dental hygienist. She truly believes she finally chose the right path, and she is proud to have a job that helps improve the lives of others. Katey and her partner, Travis, enjoy relaxing at home with their animals. She likes travelling to new places, skiing in the winter, kayaking in the summer, and going to see her favorite bands play all year long.
